Emerging Band
John Steel Singers
This week’s emerging artist is Brissie six piece the John Steel Singers. We’ve had our eye on John Steel Singers ever since we heard their self titled ep earlier this year – so it is with great pleasure that we give you their latest track for your listening pleasure – Strawberry Wine. The lads are in Sydney next week for a mini tour – they’ll be playing the Coogee Bay Hotel on Dec 20, Mums at World bar Dec 21 and Spectrum on December 22 – so do yourself a favour and check out one the gigs.
Talons
Sydney punk outfit Talons have been playing round the traps for the last year or so – The three piece have just put to bed a smashing nep EP, Ducats and we’ve got our paws on the single – Squid.
Regular John
Another Sydney act causing quite a stir at present is Talon’s Chatterbox Records label mates’, Regular John. If you’re a fan of fuzzy noisy prog rock you’ll get a kick out of this outfit. They’re presently touring around the country with those merchants of mayhem the Hard-ons but on Dec 22 Sydneysiders can catch them doing a headlining gig at the Mona Vale Hotel.
Swayback
Adelaide three piece Swayback have been making a name for themselves on the local scene ever since they released their debut the Quest for Rock n Roll. With a recent signing to Half a Cow and a reissue of that album scoring the band more fans. – this swaggering rock three piece is set for national domination. Keep your ears peeled for this track, One Way traffic.
The Lovetones
Sydney psyche rockers The Lovetones have had quite a year – releasing their third cd Axioms to critical acclaim and touring around the US with Brian JonesTown Massacre the fourpiece have finally landed back on home turf and are ready to treat local fans to a psychedelic blast. They’ll be playing the Was I There in Your Future Festival at the Annandale on Jan 12 and the Espy on Jan 19. In the meantime have a taste of what’s in store with this track – Navigator
