Sonic Porno is a two-piece grunge act from Brisbane, Australia. The Porno have been playing in bands around BrisVegas and the Gold Coast for years now, and with a successful EP and 3 tracks simultaneously in the top 10 of the Triple J Unearthed Punk Charts for a month straight, their fan-base is growing wider. Tone is a presenter on 4ZzZ Radio Station’s “Grunge is Not Dead” and “Morning Sickness” in Brissie, and Rob is a former DJ and member of electro act “Squelch” now finding his way to hell on drums. The boys have a repertoire of 40+ original tunes.
You never know what you're gonna get at a Sonic Porno show; strippers, burlesque dancers, live artists, stage trashing and violent cover versions are quite the norm. Miss Peppa Minx, Sonic Porno’s personal Burlesque goddess of mischief is always on hand to dance her little ass off and get the crowd in the mood with a blend of Burlesque dance and naughtiness.
Stu Harvey, of Triple J’s “Short, Fast and Loud” punk show plugged the band as having “some serious potential”, describing the sound as “The Cult meets Nirvana”, and Les Jobson of The Dreamkillers once offered to manage the band. For the meantime though, the boys are happy to hone their craft as young up-and-comers in the BrisVegas rock scene, building a loyal following and breaking through the sound barrier.
A blend of Punk, Indie and Grunge, prepare to be blown away by a booming voice, nasty drums and some dirty guitar action; for a 2 piece band the boys fill a room with some serious depth and distraction. Their debut EP, “Grunge is not dead” was spun live at Alchemix Studios in Wooloongabba; it is raw and emotional, non-pretentious and extremely addictive, so turn up the volume and trash your bedroom in the name of grunge. RIP, Kurt.
