Letter to Spain are an indie rock band from Brisbane, Queensland. The band began as a three-piece in early 2007 and officially released their debut EP ‘The thing about living is we all end up stopping’ in 2008. Following a stint in which the band enlisted the skills of guitarist/singer Jake Pierson the band underwent some restructuring, recruiting fellow musician and friend Michael Smith, formerly of North-coast-hardcore band, My Supremacy for bass and vocals. This established the four-man line-up in late 2008. Their sound has been referred to as a folk infused style of post-hardcore rock due to their hybrid style and amalgamation of varied influences.
The band have supported and played alongside such Australian bands as Closure in Moscow, Trial Kennedy, Repeat Offender, Final Days of Autumn and most recently Calerway on the Brisbane leg of their east-coast tour in July of this year.
2009 brought news of the band’s first full length release to be underway. Working with Dave Atkins (drummer of Resin Dogs and Wolfmother) and Wavelength studio owner and producer Joe Panetta, ‘There’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out’ is being officially released at the bands album launch on 11 August at the Zoo in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
