My name's Nick Mason, and I'm from Melbourne, Victoria. I'm twenty-two years old, a freelance writer and, quite obviously, adore music. I give JB and stores like Dixons and Polyester pretty good business.

I think it all started from a very young age, with my Dad introducing me to Crowded House, playing Woodface on cassette during trips in his old Toyota van. Consequently, its my favourite album, I love all things Finn Brothers, and my interest and passion in music has evolved from those early beginnings - in, perhaps, surprising and unusual ways. I guess I'm big on local music, I like what the Brits have been doing and those folks over in the US and Canada are alright. How terrifically vague.

I spend all my other time either working, looking for work, supporting the Hawthorn Football Club with great energy, or following my other passion: film and television. Okay, so, that's me in a nutshell.

• My favourite band is Crowded House, 
• and I pretty much love anything Neil and Tim Finn related. Really though, 
• my taste in music is pretty varied. A good starting point would be the Alternative section in your local JB Hi Fi.

• I love Monty Python And The Holy Grail. I know that much. Like my music taste though, 
• my preference in films can go all over the place. This year I've enjoyed such films as RockNRolla and The Dark Knight. But I also really champion films like Garden State, 
• Once, 
• The Science Of Sleep, 
• and also some of the more obscure comedies out there (that seem to attract me for whatever reason). I like This Is Spinal Tap, 
• and Waynes World, 
• funny you should mention it. When it comes to films, 
• there's rarely one I can cite that has 'me' written all over it before I've actually seen it. Which I don't mind at all.

I'm not a big reader,  which is amusing for someone so intent on writing. I only really pick up a book or a magazine for a quick fix - a short burst of entertainment. That's probably why I read the Herald Sun. Also,  I get the local street press (Inpress,  Beat) every week without fail.
