If you haven't already surmised by the CD cover art - a blackbird impaled on the barren branches of a tree - or the rather glum title, Calexico have discovered their environmental conscience. There's no need to despair though, singer/songwriter Joey Burns weaves his plaintive tales with such a beautiful prose you really wouldn't know the world's in such dire straits.
