I live in Brisbane and appear to have somehow fooled a lot of people into believing I can write. They pay me for it, in fact. This is something I still find wildly astonishing since I failed English in Year 11 ...
I currently work for a tiny marketing consultancy as a copywriter, regularly doing evil things such as writing brochures and websites to sell property and investment strategies. When that palls, I write uber-complex technical papers that require far too much knowledge of software development theory and economics and turn my brain to mush.
Between Fasterlouder and a quarterly column I write for Wildlife Australia magazine, I hope to stave off madness. Not sure it's working so far ...
I like snakes, long walks on the beach at sunset and small, mutant star goats.
I'm a novice when it comes to writing about music. But at least I know what I like, eh?
Favourite bands/artists -- Sigur Ros, Screamfeeder, Dirty Three, Trinkets, Boat People, Clouds, Genevieve Maynard, Falling Joys ... that'll do otherwise we'll be here forever.
Anyway, enough about me, more about you!

Breathtaking in their pop brilliance, it’s when actually seeing the Pixies – the PIXIES!! – perform that the realisation comes…every band you have ever adored in the last fifteen years, minimum, has been influenced by these four very people.

Rock and roll has just gotten a little grittier with the arrival of Grinderman's dissonant, multi-layered sounds that give a modest nod to their post-punk and no wave influences. Nick Cave just wants you to know that put simply; Grinderman is 'noisy' and hairy'. Enough said really.
