Coinciding with the presidential election, eMOTIVe will feature a collection of songs with themes of war, peace, love and greed. Also on the album will be a selection of covers – Imagine by John Lennon, What’s Goin On by Marvin Gaye and Let’s Have A War by Fear. The first release from the album is Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of War Drums. It’s release is timely for both the upcoming US and Australian elections. The video was transmitted internationally on Monday 30 August 2004. This also happened to be the first day of the US Republican National Convention. It portrays the role of the media and how it controls the opinions of the public at large.
Maynard said,
“REMEMBER… EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS.
Don’t let yourself be tricked into thinking it does not. It is important for us all to engage this political system and to be conscious of who is being chosen to speak for us. If you choose not to be involved with decisions that affect your life on a daily basis, in our opinion, you forfeit your right to complain about it later. THINK FOR YOURSELF. QUESTION AUTHORITY. Hopefully you will choose to vote on November 2nd.
Peace,
Maynard.”
eMOTIVe is described as an album to speak creatively to the current worldwide political atmosphere. It will be released in a CD format as well as being released as a remix album and a DVD specially titled aMOTION. If the previous two albums are an indication of what we are about to be served a third time, then A Perfect Circle will not disappoint. Regular updates for the upcoming release will be posted on the A Perfect Circle website.
