And maybe a touch of heaven too… That’s right, the undisputed kings of heavy metal Black Sabbath will be bringing it to Australia in August with the ‘Heaven and Hell’ tour, presented by Fasterlouder. The ‘Dio Years’ lineup of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will all be clocking in for the tour so metal heads, get excited!
The band is one of the defining acts in the heavy metal genre, shaping their unique riff fired sound over the years and influencing generations of musicians. This was recognised when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by a suitably humbled Metallica just last year.
The lineup that we’ll be seeing for this tour is the one that came together after Ozzy Osbourne parted ways with the band in 1979. Ronnie James Dio stepped up to the plate as his ballsy replacement and the new dynamic led to the classic 1980 album Heaven and Hell, while new drummer Vinny Appice joined shortly after.
After doing their own thing for a number of years of earlier in the decade, the boys met up in 2005 and threw around some ideas. A reunion was on the cards and now, Black Sabbath are headed to Australia for their first time in 27 years. Special guests on the tour will be Down featuring Pantera’s Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown along with Pepper Kennan of Corrosion of Conformity fame, so it’ll make for a balls out, rock your socks off tear-you a-new-asshole tour!
