Regina Spektor coming toAustralia
Thu 7th Jun, 2007 in Local News
Regina Spektor will make her first ever visit to Australia this July to deliver her eclectic piano driven pop to the punters. Expect tickets to the songstresses shows to sell like hot soup on a cold winter’s day.
Born in Russia, Spektor’s early years were spent travelling as her parents shifted her from Russia to Austria and Italy before finally settling in New York. Although already a promising young pianist
Spektor couldn’t bring her beloved piano with her on the move and was forced to practice her scales on imaginary pianos as she sat at the kitchen table – until she discovered a piano in the basement of her local synagogue.
Jump cut ahead several years to 2001 when she released her first CD, 11:11 which drew critical acclaim and spawned an instant fanbase in NYC’s arty circles; however it was 2003’s Soviet Kitch which really allowed the singer to break through. Last year’s Begin To Hope cemented her reputation further as a compelling talent.
