Snow Patrol return down under

After tickets to their February tour sold out in minutes, Snow Patrol will return to our shores in September for their biggest Australian tour to date.

The UK’s hottest property released Eyes Open, their fourth studio album, last year, which went on to be the highest selling British album for 2006. While they’re spending the northern hemisphere summer headlining festivals around Europe, they will make their way back to Australia for seven shows, kicking off at Sydney’s Acer Arena on September 7.

As an added bonus, the band are offering a copy of 2003 breakthrough LP Final Straw with every ticket sold. If every show sells out as expected, that’s more than 80,000 albums.

Supporting Snow Patrol on the tour are American indie-rock act Silversun Pickups, who are set to release much anticipated debut album Carnavas in July. Opening the bill is former Snow Patrol member and songwriter Iain Archer. Though Archer left the band just as Final Straw took them to the mainstream, he has impressed with solo material, with new album Magnetic North garnering glowing reviews left right and centre.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday June 15 through Ticketek (132 849).
