Rising from the ashes of now defunct boutique label Art School Dropout comes Nervous Jerk – described as an uncontrolled reaction to the current state of independent music, Nervous Jerk’s mission – to connect like minds and true music fans.
Through a new partnership with Remote Control Nervous Jerk will release an ecelectic collection of great indie acts. The first release under the new partnership with Remote Control is Liquorice Night, the debut album from Crayon Field, Geoff O’Connor’s Sly Hats project. It’s a collection of sparse Calypso balladry, woody lounge percussion and densely layered baroque pop which will be available at all good retailers from June 2.
Also coming soon on the label is the a debut EP for Adelaide’s tribal folk trio Birth Glow and the long-awaited long player for Sydney scuzzy noise-punks Kiosk.Nervous Jerk will also self-promote and distribute limited run vinyl releases for Fabulous Diamonds and Eddy Current Suppression Ring. A second phase of releases later in the year will see the label’s roster expand to include some intriguing international artists.
