The Academy Is... heading toOz!

The Academy Is... are five suburban Chicagoans with a late Eighties pop-rock appeal and a major label debut called Santi that should send the band kicking and screaming into the world’s consciousness.

Band members are William Beckett (vocals), Adam Siska (bass), Andy “the butcher” Mrotek (drums), Michael Guy Chislett (guitar) and Mike Carden (guitar).

At the advice of soon-to-be label mate Pete Wentz (*Fall Out Boy*), The Academy Is… was signed to Fueled By Ramen, which released their debut, Almost Here, in February of 2005. In the wake of the release, the band relentlessly toured with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, Panic! At The Disco and All-American Rejects, joined the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, and never looked back.

Recorded in Silverlake, California, by the legendary Butch Walker (All-American Rejects, Hot Hot Heat), the 11 tracks on Santi show the band exploring previously uncharted sonic territory including the dynamic single ‘We Got A Big Mess On Our Hands’.

One very interesting fact to note is that the guitarist Michael Guy Chislett is Australian – born in Victoria and moved with his family to Sydney in 1992, attended Cherrybrook High and joined The Academy Is… last year.

A widespread fan base is growing daily for The Academy Is… with the assistance of new album Santi which is out now.
