The first set of inductees for this year’s ARIA Hall of Fame have been announced. Joining previous inductees such as Rose Tattoo and AC/DC are a disco diva, a legendary yodeller and a quintessential Aussie rock band that started out in the eighties.
Who am I talking about?
How about a few more clues: She played Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar; was crowned Queen of Pop; has a daughter who is also a pop singer and is one of the judges on Australian Idol… that’s right Marcia Hines ...
Now, the second nominee many of you probably haven’t heard of – but if you have a hard on for yodelling – and someone must – then you’ll know that Frank Ifield is one of the most original Country Music artists that Australia has produced.
The final nominees have been recording and serving up catchy rock tunes for close to 25 years. They’ve had a string of hits but are probably best remembered for tracks like Stoneage Romeo and What’s my Scene I’m talking about the Hoodoo Gurus.
They will all be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 18 in a special ceremony to be held at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne.
