Hazel Brown to wow The Empressthis month
Sat 5th May, 2007 in Local News
20-year-old Melbourne singer-songwriter Hazel Brown is stepping up and stepping out in 2007, beginning with a five-week residency at The Empress this month.
For the past two years, Hazel Brown has been quietly wooing audiences with her acoustic folk pop in line with the likes of Clare Bowditch and Fiona Apple. Hazel Brown has honed her talents as a soulful songstress with a delicate touch for melodies.
“Writing songs is a way of crying, breathing, letting go of things or picking apart conflicts and things that confuse me.” Hazel Brown wrote her first song at the age of 13, and later formed an acoustic duo called Essay Sheppard, before going solo.
With their vocal harmonies described as “blazing” and “delicious,” Hazel Brown will be joined onstage by her younger sister Martha Brown for the Empress residency. Accompanied with her acoustic guitar, charismatic voice, and heartfelt songs Hazel Brown is a personal and organic experience.
