Mon 30th Apr, 2007 in Local News
The boy from the bush, Keith Urban is doing quite nicely these days, thank you very much. Having kicked his substance abuse habit to the kerb, Urban is in the midst of his ‘Love, pain and the whole crazy world tour’ and the accolades are flying thick and fast…
His UK tour kicked off in Shepherd’s Bush with standing ovations and the critics hailing Urban like a some new messiah. Meanwhile his new single I Told You So is already creeping up the charts in the US and is set to debut in the top 30 thanks to massive airplay.
According to Urban, I Told You So started out as a fairly traditional effort – “with just a banjo and a drum machine”. Although he says the song has “this infectious Celtic sound”, explaining : “I’d only written the chorus and couldn’t think of anything else so I put it aside. Sometime toward the end of the album I played my little work tape to Dann (Huff) and he said, – œWe’ve got to do that one.’ So I wrote the rest of the song in the studio. The lyric is real stream of consciousness.”The Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy World Tour will continue on through the UK this week, before Urban returns to Australia where he’ll enter further production rehearsals for his arena tour.
