Unions NSW today confirmed a live concert event, Rockin’ for Rights, will  follow their planned march from Hyde Park to the Sydney Cricket Ground in protest of the Federal Government’s new Industrial Relations Laws on Sunday, 22 April, 2007.

Rockin’ for Rights will feature the cream of Australian musical talent including; Beasts of Bourbon, Dallas Crane, Hoodoo Gurus, The Whitlams, The Screaming Jets, Youth Group, Something for Kate, Kev Carmody, You Am I, The Herd, Mark Seymour, Magic Dirt and Deni Hines with more artists still to be announced.

The concert is billed as a family friendly event with rides and activities for the kids and will follow a Protest March from Sydney’s Hyde Park.  Entry to the concert will be via wristbands which are available for purchase now (see details below) for $5.00 and will be limited to 40,000.

John Robertson, Secretary, Unions NSW said “Rockin’ for Rights is a terrific opportunity to show the Prime Minister that the public do not support his attack on their rights at work.  “Young people in particular are vulnerable to the changes, with many relying on penalty rates to keep their heads above water.  “The concert is being supported by some of Australia’s biggest names who are taking the lead in our campaign to create a fairer society, starting with decent workplace laws.”
