Downsyde confirmed to supportThe Roots

There’s good news and bad news for hip-hop fans in Perth. The bad news? True Live have pulled out of their support slot at The Roots’ Metro City gig next month. The good news? Dowsyde, Perth’s own hip-hop powerhouse, will take their place.
True Live, who last performed in Perth at the Beck’s Verandah in February, will still support the American rap icons on the east coast, but touring commitments elsewhere have caused them to give the April 14 gig a miss.
Downsyde, who formed in 1996, have spent the past decade cementing their place at the forefront of Australian hip-hop alongside Hilltop Hoods and The Herd. Their debut album, Eponimous, hit shelves in 2000, while Land of the Giants (2003) and When the Dust Settles (2004) followed. They’ve supported names like Jurassic 5, Cypress Hill and Grandmaster Flash and will have no trouble making themselves at home next to The Roots.
Catch Downsyde, along with Mahalia Barnes and The Roots at Metro City on April 14. Tickets are available through BOCS outlets, 78 Records, Planet Video, Beat Music and www.inthemix.com.au.
