Picture this; it’s the late seventies, and two young brothers David and Hamish Kilgour from Dunedin find inspiration in the independent DIY spirit of punk rock and the songwriting of Lou Reed and Bob Dylan. The pair form a band, The Clean.
In no time at all, The Clean went on to become one of New Zealand’s most popular and most respected bands. Their legend as one of the founding fathers of one of the most influential “scenes” in underground music quickly spread.
This year Kilgour releases his sixth solo album The Far Now. Featuring a diverse range of sounds from nimbly picked acoustic guitars to buzzing synths, the album has been described as a layer of solo extravaganzas and loping full-band excursions.
Kilgour will be touring Australia in early March including the support slot for Yo La Tengo in Melbourne and Sydney.
