Ben Harper tour datesannounced

Following the release of his acclaimed seventh studio album, Both Sides of the Gun, and his Australian tour in May 2006, Ben Harper is returning to Australia to play a select run of dates in a tour which takes him “back to his roots.”

This tour is based around Ben’s appearances at the East Coast Blues and Roots Music Festival where he broke through to a wide Australian audience for the first time back in 1996. Since that time, Ben has nurtured a unique relationship with his Australian fans, noting a kinship and sense of community here that resonates with many of the themes across his artistic output. These Australian shows will mirror the raw sense of excitement and abandonment featured across his most recent album.

As Ben says about the making of Both Sides of the Gun, “I was hoping I could come back to the root of my earlier records, the sparseness and intimacy… (the) absolute fearlessness – just diving into a song and ripping it wide open, with a lot of one-take vocals and guitar solos that are nasty, loose, raw, immediate.”
