“Mirror on the Wall” is brillig’s 1st studio LP since the critically acclaimed “Pterodactyls” of 2003, and will be distributed nationally in Australia thanks to the wonderful folks at MRA Entertainment.
The strength of the album also recently landed the band a full record deal with Germany’s Black Rain label. A promo EP featuring “The Plagiarist” (plus bonus tracks and a video clip) is set for release in Europe & North America in March, followed by the album release in May.
Black Rain has already lined up several interviews, spots on compilation discs and other promotional opportunities for the band, who are very excited about “testing the waters” internationally.
“We’ve always been told our music would work well overseas and in Europe especially, so it’s fantastic to finally have some significant support and new opportunities to have our album heard further afield,” says singer / keyboardist/ violist Elizabeth Reid. “If it goes really well, we’re extremely keen to get over there and play some live shows – and sample plenty of German beer!”
The album “Mirror on the Wall” has been a labour of love throughout the last year and was recorded by award-winning producer Matt Hills (Wolf & Cub) of Hillside Studios. Early single “Truth or Dare?” (released 2006) already went to #1 on SA’s 3D Radio, and reached #21 in the station’s >recent Annual Top 101 Countdown.
The South Australian CD Launch of the new album will take place during brillig’s special series of Adelaide Fringe Festival Shows (March 15, 22 & 29 at the Grace Emily), followed by a National Tour of CD launches in March / April. In the meantime, brillig will be playing 2 live shows with fellowBlack Rain label-mates, Dandelion Wine, this coming weekend:
