The eclectic and electric string quartet that is FourPlay returns to Melbourne for a whirlwind visit in February. The band has been invited to appear on ABC TV’s Spicks & Specks and will be performing at this year’s St Kilda Festival.
Taking advantage of their trip to Victoria, the band are also squeezing in their own show, at The East Brunswick Club this Saturday, February 10, with special guests Inventions In Time.
FourPlay are already amazing Australian and international audiences, defying convention and stereotyping since they first appeared on the radar. As much a band as a string quartet, they have become well known for blurring the boundaries between styles and genres while maintaining their own original and true sound.
FourPlay perform covers by a diverse array of bands; from The Strokes and Radiohead to Charles Mingus and Robert Johnson and many more. The band’s own original compositions are in the mix, inspired by rock, pop, post-rock, neo-classical, jazz, klezmer, swing, folk-tronica, hip hop and more. No musical stone is left unturned; and no audience left less than impressed.
