Melbourne rockers Jet were forced to cut their Big Day Out set short in Perth last night as crowd problems threatened to boil over. Despite the gates to the D-area in front of the stage being closed over an hour earlier, several hundred Tool fans continued to push towards the entrance, resulting in a number of fans being carried off injured.
Jet vocalist Nic Cester asked the crowds to settle down between songs, but organisers had to stop the show when the crowds refused to move. After a five-minute break in proceedings, the trouble died down and Jet’s performance continued.
Earlier in the day, Cester joined Kasabian on the Green Stage as the English band brought their Australian tour to a close with an extended version of LSF.
