Two of the country’s hottest new bands will team up when they launch their respective albums at the Rosemount Hotel next month. Expatriate, whose debut album is on its way, recently announced the February 16 gig and have now confirmed that fellow Sydneysiders Red Riders will be joining them on the night.
Expatriate are celebrating the release of Play a Part, an EP featuring material from their upcoming long-player. They’ve just performed at Sydney’s Big Day Out and will complete a national tour before heading to Texas for South by Southwest later in the year.
Red Riders, who have already been confirmed as national supports on Snow Patrol’s coming tour, are heading out west to promote debut album Replica Replica after spending 2006 playing with bands like The Living End, Little Birdy and The Vines.
Joining the action are Perth’s very own The Silents and Sugar Army. The Silents’ Flicker and Flames EP was one of the success stories of last year as the band went from small pub stages to house band on Rove Live and opening act for The Vines. Featuring two members of The Wednesday Society, Sugar Army have enjoyed a rapid rise to the top of the Perth indie scene and are sure to get bigger and better as 2007 gets going.
Tickets for the show are available now through www.heatseeker.com.au or at 78 Records, Planet Video and Mill’s Records.
