Slayer show moved toshowgrounds

After their Metro City concert sold out in less than a day, promoters have moved Slayer’s April 12 gig to the Robinson Pavilion at Claremont Showgrounds. It’s a double dose of good news for anyone under the age of 18, as the change of venue means fans of all ages can see the gods of metal when their Christ Illusion tour hits Perth.

It’s Slayer’s first visit to Australia since 2002 and Tom Araya (vocals, bass) Dave Lombardo (drums) Jeff Hanneman (guitar) and Kerry King (guitar) are ready to unleash the material from new record Christ Illusion on Australian fans. It’s the band’s first album in five years and has been dubbed brutal, hostile and relentless. Fans will be able to make their own minds up come April.

Joining Slayer for the tour are Mastodon, whose latest album, Blood Mountain, has wowed fans and critics alike and has put them alongside Slayer at the top of the metal tree.

All tickets for the Metro’s gig will be valid at the new venue, while all remaining tickets will go on sale next Tuesday (January 30). Tickets will be available through BOCS outlets and at 78 Records, Planet Video and Beat Music.
