The re-formed Pixies are set to sign on for the April edition of Rock-it this year. The band have already confirmed their appearance at this year’s V Festival in Queensland and NSW and according to www.heatseeker.com.au, they’re pencilled in as headliners for the Arena Joondalup festival.

While the Boston four-piece never made it to Australia during their first spell, there has been phenomenal interest in the band since their 2004 reformation – and they’ve been strongly rumoured for every festival since they got back on the road.

A statement from Heatseeker, the ticketing agency linked to Rock-it promoters Supersonic Events, confirmed that the lineup “looks set to include” the band but stopped short of confirming anything. The article also indicated that another international act would join them, while “the usual high quality Australian acts” would complete the bill.

Pixies originally split in 1993, with bassist Kim Deal (The Breeders) and vocalist Black Francis (Frank Black and the Catholics) working on their own projects. The pair reunited with guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer Dave Lovering for extensive tours of Europe and North America.

Full confirmation of dates and artists for Rock-it are expected soon. Stay tuned to FasterLouder for all the latest.
