Tex and Violents

If you like your femmes and you like them violent, you’ll be happy to hear that Wisconsin’s favourite sons, the Violent Femmes, are playing an extra show in WA next month.
While the band were among the first bunch of bands confirmed for this year’s Big Day Out, details have just been confirmed for the Swan Valley Blues and Roots festival on Saturday February 3. That’s right, the night before the Perth installment of the BDO. So if you’re a handcore Femmes fan and want to see them two nights running, you can. And if you want to avoid the testosterone of 30,000 Tool fans at the Claremont Showgrounds, you can. It’s win/win for everyone.
Tex Perkins will also be appearing as part of Tex, Don and Charlie. The former Beast of Bourbon is already heading our way to headline the Essential Stage at the BDO with Tim Rogers but will warm up for the gig with the Swan Valley Blues and Roots gig first.
Also confirmed are South African songman Farryl Purkiss, Gang of Three and locals Blue Shaddy and Veeva Feeva. The gig takes place at Knights Winery in the Swan Valley and kicks off at 3pm. Tickets cost $57.40 and are available from BOCS outlets.
