Those affable troubadours, Calexico are to return to Australian shores in February and March with some of their highly renowned live shows. With their previous visit in 2003 as the special guests of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds but a distant memory, the group will be out to jog memories in the best way possible - with scorching shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle and Adelaide.
Indeed since that tour there has been much change in the Calexico camp, but fans of the band will be used to that. Having started in 1996 as collaboration between Tucson, Arizona residents Joey Burns and John Convertino, their 10-year career has produced five acclaimed albums exploring Southwestern themes and numerous elements of world music and afforded them a healthy cult status. 2006 release Garden Ruin was their most well-received yet, introducing a bigger and better Calexico.
The Calexico line up is now very different to their beginnings and Convertino and Burns bring to Australia the incredible band they have gathered around them to deliver the full Calexico experience.
