Until now, we most commonly associated the name Dardanelles with an ancient volcanic feature in the Sierras or with the waters that connect the Black Sea with The Mediterranean.
But the recent rise and rise of an explosive Melbourne four-piece, has gone and changed all that. As they started to takeover the local scene, their explosive genre defying performances left the crowd with little doubt as to whom the moniker now truly belongs. If that wasn’t enough to lay claim to the name, then their self-titled EP which was recently dropped on Australia’s new ‘it’ label Mosquito’s Tweeter (homebase for The Valentinos), managed to do the job.
If you haven’t had a chance to catch these kids in all their live glory yet, fear not cause there’s a run of shows coming up just for you, so be sure to catch them before they head off to conquer the world -you know what it’s like with Aussie bands and myspace these days!
