There's Nothing Virginal AboutThese Brides

Whether you were familiar with the names Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns the first time around or have just found a new appreciation for 80s glam rock, you’ll recognise that Brides of Destruction are no strangers to producing some fine rock’n’roll tunes.
Nikki Sixx (ex Motley Crue bass legend) formed Brides of Destruction with Tracii Guns (ex L.A. Guns guitar god). Nikki and Tracii teamed up with singer London LeGrand, a relative newcomer in comparison with his band mates. This was only by age status, as London proved that he could nail the Brides of Destruction vocals and handled the metal crowd at his debut gig in a support slot to Mudvayne and Taproot. Completing the sticky, sweaty, sleazy line up is drummer Scot Coogan. Tracii caught Scot drumming at a gig in LA in Scot’s cover band 6 Foot Nurse. Tracii liked what he saw, asked him to audition after the Brides original drummer left and the rest, as they say, is history.
And what about that history behind the Brides of Destruction? Nikki Sixx was the bass player and primary songwriter for Motley Crue. For those who think they aren’t familiar with the Crue, I dare you not to be able to hum a chorus of at least three songs! Motley Crue sold over 40 million albums and produced 10 Top Ten singles. They’ve also played to over 30 million fans in the 20 year span that was the Crue. Pretty impressive figures on the rock n roll resume. And Nikki’s quote about his latest project – “No matter what the outcome, I promise you this; it will not be boring.”
Mr Guns apparently picked up his first guitar at the age of 6 and learnt Pinball Wizard by The Who. He formed his first band at the age of 17, called L.A. Guns while his class mate Slash was putting together his band, Road Crew. Prior to L.A. Guns success in 1986, Tracii had put together a band called Guns’n Roses. He left that band and was replaced by his class mate Slash.
London LeGrand – in his twenties and the ability to howl those Brides tunes as if he had been singing for as long as Nikki and Tracii have been playing. His first band was Mad Hatter who had a Suicidal Tendencies style about them. They had limited local success and he went on to sing in various local bands who also had limited success. By chance, at an acquaintances day job as a hairdresser, London met Nikki and Tracii. London laid down a couple of tracks at Tracii’s studio and shortly after the deal was sealed.
Scot Coogan, drummer of this monster line up, has played in various diverse bands from covers to originals. Tracii recognised the stick wielding talent that Scot had and asked him to join the rest of the band in the studio. He was asked to join the band “on the spot.”
Brides of Destruction have just released their debut album Here Come the Brides. They are also about to embark on their showcase Australian tour. If you’ve read The Dirt - the tribute to those days of excess of Motley Crue - then you’ll be certain that this upcoming Brides tour is going to be nothing less than spectacular.
