Big Day Out organisers have confirmed the second release of bands for this summer’s event.
After bringing his unique sound to the BDO in 2005, Mike skinner, aka The Streets, is back for another bite at the cherry. Along with debut album Original Pirate Material and 2004’s A Grand Don’t Come for Free, new album The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living has helped put The Streets on the map.
Another British band set to make their way down is Kasabian, who have already got the festival thing down pat after playing to huge crowds at events all around Europe. Empire, the Leicester band’s latest effort debuted at #1 in the UK and this summer they’ll be looking to extend their territory to another corner of the globe when they visit Australia for the first time.
Joining Kasabian and The Streets on the bill for all six Big Days Out are The Crystal Method (DJ set), Justice, Trivium, John Cooper Clarke, Afra and the Incredible Beatbox Band, The John Butler Trio and Little Birdy.
If you’re in Perth or Adelaide, you’ll be sad to hear that Lily Allen, Lupe Fiasco, Diplo and Shapeshifter are playing Auckland and the east coast only.
At all five Australian shows, you’ll be able to lap up the sounds of the legendary You Am I along with Something for Kate, You Am I, The Presets, Bob Evans, The Drones, The Butterfly Effect and [Love] Tattoo.
They join a lineup that already brings us the like of Tool, Muse, The Killers and The Violent Femmes.
