Hoobastank return to Australia

Hoobastank fans will be reeling with excitement at the news the band have confirmed their highly anticipated return to Australia. Not seen in Australia since 2004, which saw a sold out tour and a staggering outpour of grief from the thousands of fans who missed out on tickets, they have finally confirmed a string of East coast performances for February 2007.

Up until this point it has been fairly easy to summarise the band’s career: A couple of guys meet in a high school Battle of the Bands competition in Agoura Hills, California, in 1994. They grab a bassist and a drummer, damn themselves with a weird band name and build up a local following with music that combined influences such as Tool and Alice in Chains with a Californian groove and pop hooks. A record deal with Island in 2000 was soon followed by tours with the likes of Incubus, along with the release of their eponymous debut. However, it wasn’t until 2003 when the band released monster album, The Reason, that the band looked ready to take over the world. Three Grammy nominations, countless shows across the world and multi-platinum album sales followed.

With the release of the latest album, Every Man for Himself, the band have entered a new chapter in their career. Fans who loved the infectious pop-rock stylings of the last two Hoobastank albums have anticipated the ingenuity on offer with Every Man for Himself; with flutes, accordion, chimes and trumpets mixed in with the rock to create an astonishing blend far beyond their contemporaries.
