Thu 12th Oct, 2006 in Local News
Local band The Variodivers have won themselves $15,000 in prizes as the winners of
Jamming
for Justice. The local band competition organised by Unions ACT and The Greenroom,
asked
bands to pen three original songs to inform young people about their industrial rights.
The five finalists were Crave, Spoil, Dubba Ruki, The
Variodivers and Little Smoke. After a hard
fought competition The Variodivers came out on top, taking home a $10,000 recording package.
The band will spend time in Brisbane recording at Modern Music. In the past acts such as
The
Butterfly Effect and The Red Paintings have recorded there.
The minor placings in the competition were taken out by Little Smoke, coming in second
and
Spoil, who came third. Congratulations to The Variodivers, and we look forward to hearing the
results of those sessions.
