Big Day Out bands confirmed

The worst-kept secret of the year is finally official. Metal giants Tool will be heading to Australia this summer to headline the 2007 Big Day Out. It will be the band’s first visit to our shores since their 2002 Lateralus tour and fans will be anxious to catch the band as they tour new album 10,000 Days.

Also making the trip in 2007 will be Muse, whose shows on the 2004 BDO circuit made them favourites with Australian audiences. Black Holes and Revelations, the band’s latest offering, hit number one in Australia, signalling the fact that Muse are one of the biggest rock acts on the planet.

One of the other major success stories of 2004, The Killers, will also be joining the bill this summer. After selling squillions of copies of debut album Hot Fuss, the Vegas quartet will return to Australia in support of new album Sam’s Town.

After a lengthy absence from the live scene, Jet head up the homegrown contingent. Also joining the bill are The Sleepy Jackson, Eskimo Joe and The Herd.

The list of artists confirmed so far includes:
Tool
Muse
The Killers
The Violent Femmes
Eskimo Joe
Evermore
The Herd
Jet
Spank Rock
My Chemical Romance
Scribe
Peaches
Spankrock
Spazzys

Dates for the 2007 Big Day Out are as follows:

January 19: Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland
January 21: Gold Coast Parklands
January 25: Showgrounds, Sydney
January 28: Princes Park, Melbourne
February 2: Royal Adelaide Showground
February 4: Claremont Showgrounds, Perth

As if last years' first announcement wasn't better than this! Iggy, The White Stripes, The Mars Volta, Kings of Leon! All I see here is Muse and Peaches! Quite disappointing really... Well I hope the second and third announcements are pretty hot

I was considering going until i saw My Shitty Romance on the list. Quite frankly i dont feel like sitting in the heat listening to a bunch of wankers with no talent singing about losing their girlfriends....whilst having to be subjected to the pathetic
