ARIA nominations announced

This year’s ARIA nominees have been announced, with Bernard Fanning, Wolfmother, Eskimo Joe and the Hilltop Hoods coming up trumps with multiple nominations.
Other artists up for a gong include: Augie March, Bob Evans, Clare Bowditch, Human Nature, Troy Cassar-Daley, The Grates, The Living End, Youth Group and The Veronicas.
Bernard Fanning has been nominated 5 times (plus 2 Artisan Nominations) for his breakthrough solo album Tea and Sympathy. Hip-hop heroes the Hilltop Hoods also received 5 nominations. Flavour of the month and the world’s favourite Aussie band of the moment – Wolfmother also copped 5 noms. Last year’s winners of the Best Group category, Eskimo Joe also stepped up to the plate with 5 nominations (plus 2 Artisan Nominations) for new album Black Fingernails, Red Wine.
Jen Cloher joined the lineup for Best Female Artist alongside ARIA stalwart Kasey Chambers, R&B queen Jade MacRae and other ARIA newcomers, Clare Bowditch and Holly Throsby.
The 2006 ARIA Awards will be held on Sunday October 29, at Acer Arena and will be broadcast on Network Ten from 7.30pm. General public tickets are on sale next Monday, September 19, from Ticketek. For more info on the event check out www.ariaawards.com.au
