Thu 7th Sep, 2006 in Local News
Every Friday night in September will see Brillig take residence at The Grace Emily. Each show will feature a different setlist and theme with a very special guest on hand as well:
Friday September 8 – Behold the Sun, (Brillig playing their “oldies” - favourites from the Pterodactyls album).
Friday September 15 – Soursob Bob & Spindickle. (Brillig playing an acoustic set).
Friday September 22 – Seamus (ex Reckoning), (Brillig playing covers and requests).
Friday September 29 Dandelion Wine (melb.), (Brillig previewing new cd Mirror On The Wall).
Every gig will also feature a different 1930’s black & white horror movie projected above the band Bela Lugosi & Boris Karloff kicked off week one with The Raven.
Singer and guitarist Matt Swain says the band jumped at the opportunity to play at The Grace Emily.
“Brillig has never played a residency before and the chance to play the next 4 weeks in a row at our favourite pub, was hard to turn down,” he said. ”Each week features a different setlist, so it’s been a lot of fun going back through our old catalogue and relearning some favourites. People have also jumped at the chance to ask for songs at our Covers & Requests week. It even looks like we may be exhuming our completley out of character version of a famous song by a certain Guns ‘n’ Roses.”
Brillig are currently putting the final touches to their new cd, Mirror On The Wall, which will be released in Adelaide at their annual Halloween Show (Saturday October 28 at The Jade Monkey). There is also an East Coast tour planned for early December.
