Thank God It's Over 2006
Thu 24th Aug, 2006 in Local News
After working hard all year, studying for exams, submitting assignments and stressing about what to do with the rest of your life, it is now time to put the books down and party one last time before the final exams in November. On 14th October 2006, in it’s first year, the annual Thank God It’s Over Festival (TGIO) will bring together schoolies from around the state for one massive ‘muck up day’ where anything goes!!!!
21 years ago, to celebrate the end of school for leaving students, TGIO helped them celebrate their hard work and the end of their schooling lives. This year at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, TGIO will host a killer line up, bringing together some of the leading Australian bands together with the very best in dance music and add a further arena for new bands who want a chance to play to a large audience for the first time.
But that’s not all . . . there will be market stalls, food stalls, licensed areas, and carnival rides making this one hell of a party.
Headlining TGIO 2006 on the Main Stage are some of Australia’s best known live bands including GRINSPOON (only Melbourne show), SHIHAD, Dallas Crane, Gyroscope, Kisschasy, Karnivool, The Casanovas, Behind Crimson Eyes, British India, True Live , The Gingers, and Kate Alexa.
And if you are keen to experience some great ass-shakin’ dance beats on the My First Kiss (Kiss FM) Stage, you can see well-known DJs John Course, Andy Van, Mr Timothy, DJ Peril, Sean Quinn, The Little Rascals, A-Style, Pappa Smurf ,Timmy Burne and more to be announced.
On the Indie Stage you and your mates could be playing in front of thousands of people at this year’s TGIO- just log on to www.myspace.com/tgioaustralia for further details. There will be bands from all over the state chosen to get their first start. The best act on the day will receive a recording deal and some kick ass promotion following TGIO.
So make sure you come to celebrate with other schoolies from all over Victoria, and breathe a big “Thank God It’s Over” at the first annual TGIO Festival at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on October 14 2006.
