Legs 11 - a concert to supportbreast cancer research
Wed 16th Aug, 2006 in Local News
Billed as a night of alternative music where the punter can also feel as though they are making a difference by contributing to a good cause, LEGS 11 is a live music concert featuring some of our best local artists joining forces in the fight against breast cancer.
Featuring a stellar line-up including Tim Rogers & Tex Perkins with The Sydney Youth Orchestra, Sarah Blasko, Little Birdy, Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set, plus Bob Evans – LEGS 11 will offer a kick arse musical line-up as well as the opportunity to feel all warm and goo-ey for helping out a worthy cause. Add in great food and wine and you have the perfect recipe for a night of music under the stars.
Legs 11 co producer Kristen Francis says the event will bring a fresh approach to a music event.
“After years of attending festivals featuring a high percentage of men onstage, we wanted to produce an event that we, as women, could relate to,” says Francis. ’Something that was sophisticated yet relaxed and showcased artists of diversity.
“Suffice to say, we’re producing an event that features a good balance of men and women, not only onstage but in the audience as well, and aligning this with a worthwhile cause. Breast cancer reflects this idea: it’s a disease that affects men as well as women, not only as sufferers, but also as husbands, fathers, brothers and sons.”
Legs 11 will kick off at the Domain on Friday October 27, gates open 5pm. Tickets are $74 + booking fee. On sale from 9am Friday September 1.
