If you’ve got a hunger for roots and blues, you may want to check out the Bimbadgen Blues Festival. Now in its seventh year, the festival is bigger and better than ever, this year boasting two stages and a fantastic line-up of old and new artists.
Artists confirmed thus far include Mia Dyson, Ash Grunwald, rosie, Blue King Brown, The Blues Bombers and legends of Australian blues Dutch Tilders (Winner 2006 Best Album & Best Vocals For New Totally Solo CD “Mine & Some I Adopted”), Chain and Kevin Borich.
Set amongst the vines at Bimbadgen Estate Winery, the festival is one of the must see events for Blues and Roots fans each year. Just ask event promotor Grant Smith from Sound Addiction, who says that along with die-hard blues fans, each year more people are getting on to the fact that Blues and Roots can take you on a journey that goes from the most chilled mellow sounds through to the core of the energy source of today’s rock.
“Take Ash Grunwald, more than just a powerhouse vocalist, Ash is sliding, stomping and hollering his way into the lives of fresh audiences around the globe,” said Grant.
“Then you’ve got Blue King Brown bringing a distinctly original sound fusing heavy percussion with soul, Afro beat, roots, rock and reggae. Now with an APRA Songwriters Award for 2005 under their belt, Blue King Brown is definitely a musical force to be reckoned with.
“Dutch Tilders is also riding a new wave of success with songs from his 2006 Australian Blues Music Awards Album Of The Year – ‘Mine and Some I Adopted’ wowing audiences across the country.”
If the Bimbadgen Blues Festival hasn’t shown up on your radar yet, never mind, this year’s announcement of acts on the bill is sure to pique your fancy.
