Ivy League, the rather modest inner Sydney based label responsible for releases from Youth Group, Red Riders and Josh Pyke, have struck a deal to put them more prevalently on the international map. The deal will see Ivy League join forced with the Gudinski owned and run Mushroom Group, so the smaller boutique label is able to use the talent and resources of the Mushroom Group to establish Ivy League as a major independent label around the globe.
The two labels have been working closely together for the last two years, establishing Ivy League as a quality music outlet on the Australian scene. “We started Ivy League in 1997 to give our favourite bands the opportunity to release music because we felt that people had to hear their talent and creative excellence, and that philosophy is what continues to drive the label. Working with Michael is in turn inspiring, hilarious, great fun, and never, ever dull, and we look forward to a really exciting future with him and his great team.” Commented the excited trio behind the label, in a statement shortly after the deal was announced.
