Were you one of the many who found themselves glued to the screen eagerly waiting with anticipation as the first season on Rock Star went to air, searching across the world to put a leader back in front of INXS? Well your time has come to be a part of the second chapter, as they bring the search to Australia (unlike last year’s journey to find an INXS frontman).
The band they’ve put together for the second season of Rock Star will see a cast of musicians surely to be the source of wet dreams for any self-respecting rock kid. Consisting of none other than Motley Crue’s infamous drummer Tommy Lee, ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newstead and ex-Guns’n’Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, who will be going under the aptly chosen name ‘Supernova’. “Starting a new band with old friends on worldwide television is going to be a blast,” said Lee. “And we’re going to pull out all the stops to find the most charismatic and musically talented lead singer to front Supernova. I love breaking the rules.”
The local leg of the audition tour is set to kick off in Melbourne on March 28 before heading to Brisbane and Sydney. Once passing initial selection process, the new lead singer will be chosen from 16 hopefuls handpicked from around the world, with the winner recording an original album with Atlanta’s Butch Walker and their fellow Supernova band mates. Walker has worked with some of the hottest names in showbiz including Avril Lavigne and Pink. Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro and model and television personality Brooke Burke will return as the show’s hosts.
