Soundwave band cancels tourafter “dirtbike mishap”

Drummers are “seriously ruining” Soundwave boss AJ Maddah’s week.

Blink 182 recently confirmed that drummer Travis Barker won’t be joining them when they come here for the Soundwave festival and now Six Feet Under have been forced to cancel their appearance after drummer Kevin Talley was injured in “a dirtbike mishap”.

Six Feet Under were also scheduled to play two Sidewaves shows with Sylosis in addition to their festival shows. Talley joined Six Feet Under in 2011 and has also played with many other bands including Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira, Hate Eternal, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation, and DevilDriver.

Earlier this week celebrity drummer-for-hire Josh Freese (Weezer, Paramore, Devo) also confirmed that he’ll miss the Soundwave tour due to prior obligations. Freese, who quit A Perfect Circle late last year, is the current drummer for The Vandals but he’ll be replaced by Alkaline Trio’s Derek Grant for the Soundwave tour.

Soundwave’s casualty list also includes Shai Hulud’s current singer Justin Kraus who was admitted to hospital with chest pains following a show in Trenton, New Jersey on Saturday (February 16). The band has posted a photo of Kraus in his hospital bed telling fans “Don’t worry, Justin’s not dead, rather, as they might say in The Princess Bride, ‘mostly dead.’” A follow-up message poster earlier today has confirmed that that the band is still “gearing up to leave for Soundwave Festival in just a couple days”. However Kraus will be replaced by Mike Moynihan, who sang with Shai Hulud from 2009 to 2011 for the Soundwave tour.

Six Feet Under are the fifth band to cancel their tour with Soundwave 2013. Earlier this month Maddah announced that he was “super pleased” to reveal that Blood On The Dance Floor had to pulled out of the festival. Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti, who had double-booked another show, and New York-based deathcore crew Dr Acula, who recently announced they were breaking up after eight years have also been dropped from the bill. Flogging Molly will not appear on the line-up in Perth.

It means they'll be adjusted again. I think we're up to the 4th or 5th timetable as it is.

"Curse" hits next year's lineup?

"Machine Head and bassist Adam Duce have parted ways. The split is amicable, and Machine Head would like to wish Adam the best with his current and future endeavors. The band will continue on for the time being as a three-piece and have begun the writing process for their follow-up to 2011's Unto The Locust."
