The Bronx sideshows, exclusivealbum stream

The Bronx have locked in eight club shows while in Australia with the Groovin The Moo festival tour.

The Los Angeles-based crew will be marking their 10th anniversary and the release of their fourth album of hardcore anthems, which is (unsurprisingly) titled The Bronx IV. The new record, which you can stream exclusively below, marks a return to the band’s eviscerating punk style after two albums of tunes released under the Mariachi El Bronx banner.

The eight shows (including three at Sydney’s Annandale and two at the Corner in Melbourne) will feature support from Brisbane’s DZ Deathrays and Violent Soho. Local supports opening up the gigs include Chinese Burns Unit, Blacklevel Embassy and Batpiss.

The Bronx first toured here in 2004 and have been regular visitors to Australia, hitting our shores in 2011 and 2007 with the Soundwave Festival; in 2008 for Meredith; in 2009 for a combined The Bronx/Mariachi El Bronx tour; and in 2010 for the Melbourne Arts Festival. Last year the band returned to play two shows supporting Soundgarden as The Bronx while touring with Big Day Out in Mariachi form.

Reviewing their set opening for Soundgarden in Melbourne, FL reported that the band were “loud, ear bleedingly, brain meltingly loud. All clad in black and spruiking high energy hard rock and hardcore punk the deep fast bass rhythms contrast with singer Matt Caughthran’s high end screams and shouts.”

Their fourth album is out in just a couple of days' time, they've already been announced for the massive Groovin' The Moo festival in regional centres around the country, but today we're mighty stoked to finally be able to announced the full club dates for the mighty LA punk rockers The Bronx.

It was already hinted to us that they were going to be here a couple of weeks' back, but today we can confirm eight club shows (including three at the Annandale Hotel and two at Melbourne's Corner Hotel) with support from none other than Brisbane ARIA winning two-piece party punk sensations DZ Deathrays!

There are a couple of shows that the duo can't play, so those dates have been handballed to our favourite stoned grunge masters (and fellow Brisbane band) Violent Soho, who have spent a bit of time on the road with The Bronx in the US. Some pretty great local supports open up most shows, with the likes of Chinese Burns Unit, Blacklevel Embassy and Batpiss all getting involved.

The dates are as follows and tickets are on sale from Wednesday 13 February. Put it in your diary.

Wednesday April 24 – Annandale Hotel, Sydney (with Violent Soho and Hostile Objects)
Thursday April 25 – Annandale Hotel, Sydney (with DZ Deathrays)
Friday April 26 – Annandale Hotel, Sydney (with DZ Deathrays and Chinese Burns Unit)
Tuesday April 30 – Corner Hotel, Melbourne (with Violent Soho and Blacklevel Embassy)
Wednesday May 1 – Corner Hotel, Melbourne (with DZ Deathrays and Batpiss)
Thursday May 2 – Fowlers Live, Adelaide (with DZ Deathrays and Hightime)
Tuesday May 7 – The Hi-Fi, Brisbane (with DZ Deathrays and Spitfireliar)
Friday May 10 – Capitol, Perth (with DZ Deathrays)

DEM SUPPORTS!

Should have DZ and Violent Soho supporting every show, 2 of the best live acts I've seen.

Also will probs attend depending on price/conflicts.

This is brisbane related but....

That was for some wintergarden festival or some shit slated for the RNA showgrounds that went belly up if I remember correctly, so they moved all the bands to the Arena for two days of mini festivals.

I remember Matt pulling a kid out of the pit by his head and screaming/singing in his face. Sooo good.

That was fucking intense. Hold on to your balls, dudes and dudettes. The Bronx fucking destroyed the 'dale. The mix was great, the band were tight and the crowd was awesome.

I tried to do Moshlord Tyler proud and I was getting wild up the front for the first 5-6 songs. Then I copped a few elbows to the head and needed to rest until they played They Will Kill Us All. People were having fun and fpr the most part helping out abyone knocked down. Arsehole factor was minimal.
The set was a fair mix of iV, I and II.

GOTY so far. Well played, Bronx

first melbourne gig last night was awesome... as always.

matt had a dig at groovin' the moo, saying it sucks and they were stoked to be finally off the leash and set free.
they played that way too, ripped through about an hour or so, good mix of old and new. crowd was super loose but no w4nkers. probably the best of the 4 times i've seen them.

did anyone get a set list? best i can remember it was:

unholy hand
shitty future
under the rabbit
too many devils
youth wasted
knifeman
white tar
heart attack american
6 days a week
white guilt
ribcage
rape zombie
valley heat
i got chills
history's stranglers

something like that, order is wrong and probably forgot a couple of them.

Driving back from the Adelaide show........holy fuck..
I never thought a group could rival last months stooges gig......

Matt out Iggied Iggy and the bronx out stooged the stooges.I thought QOTSA were a tight playing group.

Thanks to Fowlers regular shitty sound (owner too much of a tight arse to ditch the Bose) I was on the right side of the stage and couldn't hear much of the between song banter but I did catch Matt regularly talking shit on one Jared Leto and his airport Yoga workouts.

Fucking amazing show for $48.50.....crowd were brilliant, security let people do what they wanted and no assclowns ruining peoples night...my only regret was not buying a tshirt on my way in.
