Support acts for Blink 182Sidewaves confirmed

Blink 182 will be playing four sideshows while in Australia with the Soundwave Festival next month and thanks to a Twitter slip from promoter AJ Maddah we can confirm that they’ll be joined by The Vandals and Sharks.

The Vandals haven’t visited a shores since 2008, mainly due to drummer Josh Freese’s work with almost every band on earth (Weezer, Devo, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Sting), but they’ll finally return to Australia to play Soundwave and the Blink Sidewaves this March.

English punks Sharks had been booked to support Pennywise’s tour last August, but when the shows were postponed they joined the Soundwave lineup. Their debut album No Gods was released in March 2012.

It took just three minutes for fans in Melbourne to snap up all the tickets to Blink’s first show and the Sydney date has also sold out. Tickets for the Brisbane gig and the second Melbourne show are still on sale.

These will be the first gigs that Blink have played in Australia since 2004, after which they went on an “indefinite hiatus.” Since their emotional reunion in 2009, triggered by drummer Travis Barker’s near-death experience in a plane crash, the band has released new album, Neighborhoods, which FL described as, “Blink 182 how they should sound now.”

Blink 182 Sidewaves:

Wednesday, February 20 – Allphones Arena, Sydney (All Ages) Sold Out
Friday, February 22 – The Marquee at RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane (All Ages)
Tuesday, February 26 – Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne (All Ages) Sold Out
Wednesday, February 27 – Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne (All Ages)
