The Offspring sidewaves;playing 'Ignition' in full
Thu 13th Dec, 2012 in Local News
The Offspring are returning to play on the Soundwave festival tour for the second time next year and they’ll be playing a few sidewave shows as well. Their first Australian visit in five years will see the Californian punks playing headine shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and to make it even more exciting they’ll be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their second album Ignition its entirety along with a set full of new songs and classics.
When The Offspring toured with Soundwave back in 2008 they headlined the bill that also featured Incubus, Alexisonfire, Killswitch Engage, and Thursday. And while they’ve slipped to fifth place on the 2013 lineup they’re only beaten by Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink-182, and A Perfect Circle.
The punk rock mainstays returned earlier this year with a new album Days Go By, which unfortunately featured ‘Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Trunk)’ a song so bad that FL had to ask is the new Offspring single a joke or just plain horrible? Thankfully the track featuring an auto-tuned Dexter rapping lines such as: “The girl with the gloss and a g-string just like floss, she’s waving her caboose” wasn’t a great indication for the rest of the album. Not that it matters all that much when they’re playing Ignition from start to end.
The Offspring sidewaves:
Wednesday, March 6 – The Palace, Melbourne – (18+)
Friday, March 8 – Enmore Theatre Sydney (Lic A/A)
Saturday, March 9 – The Hi-Fi, Brisbane (18+)
