PiL Australian tour

Public Image Ltd, AKA PiL, have announced they will tour Australia for the first time in over 20 years.

After re-forming in 2009 for a tour that was paid for with money frontman John Lydon had earned doing an advertisement for Country Life Butter, PiL returned to the studio last year to record their first material in two decades. Their vinyl-only EP One Drop was released for Record Store Day this year, and was followed by the full-length album This is PiL.

Rumours that they would be part of the 2013 Soundwave lineup persisted even after the first announcement. AJ Maddah has said on Twitter that it “will happen”, although not this time around.

PiL were formed by John Lydon in 1978, looking for a new project after The Sex Pistols broke up. The original lineup had John Lydon at the front and Jah Wobble and Keith Levene on bass and guitar, but Lydon is the only original member to remain. He’s currently backed by Bruce Smith and Lu Edmonds, who were part of the 1980s lineup, and new member Scott Firth.

The 2013 tour will include the band’s first dates in China, as well as a visit to Japan before they arrive in Australia in April. As well as songs from This is PiL apparently we can expect them to be showcasing “live favourites from PiL’s vast history such as ‘Rise’, ‘This Is Not A Love Song’, ‘Death Disco’, ‘Flowers Of Romance’, and ‘Warrior’”.

PiL Australian tour dates:

Tuesday, April 9 – Eatons Hill Hotel, Brisbane
Wednesday, April 10 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Thursday, April 11 – Palace, Melbourne

Calling bullshit on this. The sound has been consistently shit at the Hifi. Refused at Eatons Hill was pretty much faultless. But yes I agree the location is terrible.

Im with DPLS, Eatons is fucking fantastic. Refused were out of this world amazing.

And the location is fantastic, it's less than 10 minutes from where I live.

I've never been to Eatons Hill so I can't judge the sound of that venue, but I've never noticed any sound problems at the hifi?
The venue location was definitely the biggest problem for me, as I live inner city.

HiFi is a good decision if it's not selling. Much more atmosphere is a packed small venue than an empty big venue.

Tyler, I live about ten minutes from EH too. It'd be funny if we're next door neighbours.

This makes me feel old. I seen them in about 89/90 for the 9 tour. Great show. (from what i remember) Even got to shake hands with Johnny.

It was at the Revesby Roundhouse lol

I will have to make the effort to see them again.

Whatever you do, dont spit on him xD

ha yeh i saw that tour, at the Venue in Dee Why (oh the memories)

Best bit was it hit midnight, they walked off, the lights and canned music came on amidst the calls of "encore"... and anyway, Johnny and te giuys come back on stage, the lights stayed on and the canned music was still happening, they just plugged back in anyway and played 'Public Image" right through regardless of the lights and midnight curfew.... awesome stuff!!

curious abut the 2013 model of PiL (i bought a PiL t-shirt in London in 1986, favorite teenage purchase EVER!) but not super amped i must admit
