Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds2013 tour

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will return to Australia in February 2013 to show off songs from their 15th studio album Push The Sky Away.

The band, which currently features Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Jim Sclavunos, Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Ed Kuepper and Conway Savage will play Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and two shows at the Sydney Opera House with members of the Sydney Symphony. They will be performing songs from their entire back-catalogue and are promising “the grandest production of their career.”

Last here to headline All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2009, FL was at the band’s Adelaide sideshow: “The Bad Seeds live is a confronting and often alienating experience. This time out was no exception and whilst this configuration of the band has yet another new rock-orientated, glammier sound then before, their expertise, mastery of aural theatre and intimate knowledge of their back-catalogue left no possibility for a concert anything less than breathtaking.”

The news comes only days after the band released the single ‘We No Who U R’ – a sombre ballad which features a mysterious female vocal – you can listen to it here.

They were very good last time I saw them (the night before Obama was inaugurated) but I don't feel the need to see them again.

I saw that posted by Nick Cave (or his media person) on Facebook last night. After 24 minutes I was the only person who had liked it and noone had commented. Was a sad state of affairs indeed!

The lesson? No one wants to pay to stand on the hill at the Music Bowl.

Or to stand on the hill at riverstage? Ok granted, Brisbane doesnt normally sell out any gig. Melbourne normally would/should (for a band of this scale).

Had a great night last night.

The sound was fantastic with the orchestra and choir and the banter between Nick Cave and the kids in the choir was pretty funny.

From the new album I thought Jubilee Street was by far the stand out. It sounded phenomenal and is up there with any NC&TBS material.

All the classics at the back end of the set were great to hear again.

Can only agree with your comments BH. Great show. Really enjoying the new material.
Nick seemed genuinely mortified when he swore in front of the kids at the start.

Absolutely. That seemed like a genuinely awkward moment.

It must have been fucking cool being those kids getting to perform in the Opera House with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (and part of the SSO).

Some amazing musicians have graced that stage. I have also played on that stage.

Heh. It was in a combined orchestra between our school and a local girls school at the big music night that school put on every year.

I was first trombone. So at least I was less shit than the other two trombonists.

You should have got up and joined Nick and the "Bad Seats" when the Orchestra abandoned them last night.
