Update: Wednesday, January 16 – A strictly limited number of tickets will be released for the previously sold out Sydney show will go on sale at 9am on Thursday, 17 January.
Blink 182 have announced another Soundwave sideshow in Melbourne, and released extra tickets for their show in Brisbane.
The new tickets will go on sale at 9am next Friday – November 23. It took just three minutes for fans in Melbourne snap up all the tickets to the band’s first show, so expect the second show to sell very quickly. While the support acts haven’t been announced, Soundwave boss AJ Maddah has indicated on twitter that Blink will be joined by English punks Sharks and another band from the festival lineup.
Already confirmed as headliners alongside Metallica and Slayer at Soundwave Festival next year these will be the first gigs that Blink have played in Australia since 2004, after which they went on an “indefinite hiatus.” Since their emotional reunion in 2009, triggered by drummer Travis Barker’s near-death experience in a plane crash, the band has released new album, Neighborhoods, which FL described as, “Blink 182 how they should sound now.”
Reviewing their comeback show in Manchester, Hive Magazine concluded: “They ended on a 3-song encore and the crowd screamed at the top of their lungs for one more song. There was a great sense of nostalgia and Blink 182 proved that they still have what they’ve always had. “
