Wu Lyf ripped off by sexistsports car ad

According to the Brussels-based company responsible for the ad “there is not a man in the world who will not love this ad” but the band says that they have not consented to the use of the song in the ad, have not earned a penny from it and are “fucking angry” about the situation.” The band has taken to Facebook to make the claim telling their fans that they are “interested” to know why the song is featured in the “sexist sports car advert that encourages men to live out their ‘inner chauvinist’”, but do go on to say they “wouldn’t have minded if it was for a Lamborghini.”
Wu Lyf came to the attention of the music world in 2009 when they released a series of impressive recordings while remaining shrouded in complete anonymity, declining requests for interviews and revealing little information to the press. Although their days of masked music crusading are long behind them, when talking to FL at Vivid LIVE in May the band mused that: “The anonymous thing works because, we just wanted to put out the music and let it speak for itself. People actually really want to know who we are, which is nice.”
The band was part of the initial 2012 Laneway festival lineup announcement however they didn’t make it back to Australia, with the promoters announcing the cancellation their festival appearance and Sydney and Melbourne sideshows “due to unforeseen circumstances”. On Christmas Day the band made a post on Facebook claiming that “contrary to popular belief, we didn’t pull out of Laneways, they pulled us from their bill.” They are yet to announce a return to Australia.
