Bluesfest third lineup 2013:"A dream come true"

Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant leads the third lineup for Bluesfest 2013 – the announcement hyped as “possibly the greatest announcement in the history of Bluesfest”.

It’s 40 years since Robert Plant first toured Australia with Led Zeppelin, and he hasn’t toured Australia since his 1996 visit with Jimmy Page. For his Bluesfest tour over easter he’ll be joined by his current band – Sensational Shape Shifters – featuring members of Plant’s former backing band Strange Sensation including Justin Adams. The band’s sound is reportedly influenced by “the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton”.

Plant’s sets on his current South American Tour have included many Led Zeppelin songs – ‘Friends’, ‘Black Dog’, ‘Bron-Y-Aur Stomp’, ‘Gallows Pole’, ‘Four Sticks’, ‘Going to California’, ‘Rock and Roll’, ‘Ramble On’, and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ – plus covers of Bukka White, Bo Diddley, Howlin Wolf, and Tim Buckley. Plant has revealed that he has almost completed an album with his new band -“12 tracks, 11 originals and no sentimental stuff” – which will hopefully be released before the Bluesfest tour.

Pushing the festival lineup one step beyond, Madness have also joined the bill and will bring a set of classics and tracks from their new album Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da. The other acts in the third announcement include Status Quo, and the lead singers of Supertramp and Yes (Roger Hodgson and Jon Anderson, respectively). They join a bill that already features Santana, Jimmy Cliff, Iggy and The Stooges, Ben Harper, Rodriguez and Wilco.

Festival Director Peter Noble says that with this third lineup he really feels that Bluesfest 2013 is delivering the best in its history. “Bringing Robert Plant to Bluesfest is a dream come true,” says Noble. “We have waited together for so long and now it’s gonna happen – I am so delighted and hugely honoured. There are still more artists to be added in the upcoming weeks, but for now let’s revel in the wonderment of this third announcement.”

Madness! Bought a ticket for Saturday. Feel a little half-arsed only doing the one day.

Madness and Jon Anderson caught my eye more than Robert Plant. He played some of his new stuff on Jools Holland a while back and I thought it was pretty much garbage.

Though I dont get why Jon Anderson isnt touring with Yes. Last I heard is that he wasnt touring with them coz he was sick, so if he's better now then what the fuck?

but he's the lead singer of led zeppelin one of the greatest bands of all time.

he could get on stage and only do a cover of The Wiggles ~ Quack Quack Cock-A-Doodle Do and I'd still be dead keen on seeing him live.

for my personal taste, the sensation of this festival is roger hodgson (ex-supertramp). roger continues with his amazing voice, perfect and intact. i follow roger's concerts since 1998 and all his performances are unforgettable. he is the ''mr. voice'', in my opinion, he is the best of all! lucky those who might be in the roger%u2019s concert!
good luck and peace!

this festival already offered santana, ben harper, steve miller band, grace potter and the nocturnals.... now let's add john anderson (yes), robert plant and roger hodgson (supertramp)... rock royalty!

go, travel to see roger hodgson for all you need to do is close your eyes and open them quickly to realize the sound you hear at his concerts is fresh and new! he plays his music such precision and completeness what you experience is undeniably perfection in motion! so go, see, experience roger's magic for yourself, you will understand the strength of the body of his work for yourself and will return again and again to feel his music for yourself.

a great festival needs great artists, so, what a good idea to bring back roger hodgson again, and this time with his terrific band!!- in my opinion, they create an atmosphere very special, you feel you are in your teens again. you have to attend and after the show you will say, that's it!!! and you'll come back home with a great amile in your face and in your heart. don't wait and purchase your ticket right now!! don't miss it! it's worth!!

what a lineup! two of my favorites, roger hodgson and robert plant! the two princes of rock! however, roger hodgson is more than just the "lead singer of supertramp." he is the band's co-founder and singer/songwriter of their greatest hits to include give a little bit, dreamer, breakfast in america, the logical song, take the long way home, school, fool's overture, it's raining again, and more! i have had the great fortune to see roger in concert several times over the past few years and he is like a fine wine that just keeps getting better and better! if you were or are a supertramp fan, you've got to see roger's show and this time he's bringing his band!

yeah, roger hodgson! get ready for a kickin' show because roger will raise your standards of concert-going, he's a masterful musician at the top of his craft and no doubt will blow you away. without a doubt he's the fire of supertramp and i have tickets for five shows - sydney, perth, adelaide, melbourne and brisbane - that says i'm going to have a really awesome open of the concert season. with his full band they'll give you goosebumps, when i saw him in 2010 he sounded better than supertramp did in their entire career. i'm there!

compare that with a 4 day music festival ticket for Rock Werchter in Belgium at 200 Euros = less than $250...
