Black Sabbath "definitely"touring Australia in 2013

Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager Sharon Osbourne has told Triple M that Black Sabbath will “definitely” be touring here in spring next year.

Interviewed on Merrick and the Highway Patrol on Friday, Osbourne was asked whether we’d be seeing Sabbath in Australian anytime soon. “Of course you are,” she said. “They are going to be touring here in the spring of next year. Definitely.”

After years of rumours, Black Sabbath officially reformed late last year with a promise to embark on a worldwide tour and release the first new album by the original lineup in 33 years. However, by February the reunion had disintegrated with drummer Bill Ward issuing a statement declaring that he had been given an “unsignable” contract and was in a “holding pattern” until he is given a deal that “recognises and is reflective of my contributions to the band, including the reunions that started fourteen years ago”.

The band’s original members – Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler – were joined by drummer Tommy Clufetos (Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper) and Adam Wakeman for the (Ozzy Osbourne, Victoria Beckham, Atomic Kitten) for shows at Download Festival and the O2 Academy in England, as well as Lollapalooza in Chicago. In the lead up to the three Sabbath shows, Osbourne also played a 17-date tour billed as “Ozzy & Friends”, with guests including Slash and Zakk Wylde.

Black Sabbath are currently in the studio recording a new album, due for release early next year, with producer Rick Rubin.

i was lucky enough to see ozzy live a few years back and loved it. the same weekend i saw kiss, poison, alice cooper and whitesnake. ozzy was definitely the highlight.

as much as i enjoy ozzy's solo albums i don't think he's done anything as good as the first 4 albums he did with sabbath.

i am so very keen to see them live! iommi, butler, ozzy! all living legends just a shame bill ward is no longer with them.

WWE audiences are mostly kids now thanks to people like John Cena and Rey Mysterio.

NRL/NFL et al. is still very much driven by dudes that drink themselves into another dimension.

I'm not saying there are no bogans/rednecks that watch pro-wrestling, but in my experience they'd struggle to compete with footy crowds.

The WWE is struggling with ratings and a creative overhaul at the moment which has seen one of the head writers fired. There are quite a few people keeping the product interesting, however - CM Punk, the perennial feature of my avatar, being one of them.

I think if you looked at an American WWE audience it would predominantly made up of rednecks and trailer trash (including the kids).

All the football codes, whether they are Australian or American attract a pretty broad cross section of society. For every bogan/redneck, there's a guy who wears a suit to work and wouldn't be considered a bogan/redneck in any way, shape or form.

You really have to be into it to understand the behind-the-scenes stuff. It's difficult to properly explain.

I'm not going to compare a fabricated rehearsed storyline, designed to win over the fans for personal success to a storyline of any football club that has been built upon many decades of actual history, and focuses on team unity than any individual.

That's not what I was asking you to do at all. I was merely pointing out that there is clearly more of a creative process behind that side of things, as opposed to just "boys done good" at the end of a match. Good to know that you didn't watch either video, though - "winning over the fans for personal success" was definitely not what Punk's promo was about.

Stugalug

Stugalug said on the 15th Oct, 2012

I did watch the video. How long is a average wrestler career? Between 5 - 10 years? How do they have a lengthy career? By enduring themselves to the fans. Either by way of villain or hero, these fabricated storys are created to build the characters, and win the fans.

I agree that there is clearly a more creative process behind the scenes, because there needs to be. It's simply not comparable to football clubs whose histories can go back over a 100 years.

MorningAfterboy

MorningAfterboy said on the 15th Oct, 2012

I don't think there IS an average career, to be totally honest. It varies quite a bit. Kane has been with the WWE for roughly fifteen years. The Big Show has been with them for about thirteen years. John Cena has been with the company for a decade. There are quite a few wrestlers that are basically "lifers" for the company, and their careers may not necessarily end when they leave the WWE.

I feel at this point that I really should point out that I was not the one who compared pro-wrestling to football. I simply said that there would be far more bogans that watch NRL than the WWE. I didn't think that would be so libelous a statement, but there you have it. All I'm trying to do is explain why I enjoy pro-wrestling - which is a little more difficult when the people you're speaking to probably only know Hulk Hogan or the Rock or Steve Austin.

That is just because the NRL is hugely more popular than WWE in Australia.

Anyway, this is a pointless conversation. The Bulldogs have a lot of fans of Lebanese origin. There is nothing racist about that statement.

Part of it is because a lot of the Lebanese community live in the Bankstown area and other parts of south-western Sydney and Hazem El Masri was a prominent Bulldogs player for over a decade and is Lebanese.
